Inspired by my work experiences in Tehran before the revolution, The Persian Project has had a long gestation period. As my first novel, it gathered dust in my desk for years before I exhumed it, rewrote large chunks, and heavily edited the rest. The result is a timely story that brings alive the people, places and events of that time and foreshadows the rise of a militant Islam and today’s events. Orders are now being taken online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and at your local bookstores.

Here is a brief synopsis:
"The year is 1978 and Tehran is in turmoil. Political, religious and societal forces have coalesced to threaten the Shah's reign, and imperil U.S. interests in the Middle East at the height of the Cold War. Despite disarmament talks with the Soviet Union, the U.S. fears deception, and has taken secret steps to monitor Soviet shipping activity in the area.

"Under cover as a telecommunications consultant, Clint Jagger, a Special Ops veteran of Vietnam, goes to Tehran with a special assignment - and finds himself ensnared in political intrigue and civil unrest. Arrested by the notorious SAVAK, he faces mistreatment at the hands of the sadistic commander of Evin prison. He is released in time to witness the Shah's departure, and Khomeini's arrival. When all U.S. operations cease in Iran and most Americans return home, Jagger remains to engage in a series of life-threatening situations while surrounded by a cast of well-drawn characters.

"The locations move from Tehran to Italy, Switzerland, England and the U.S. before returning to Tehran for an explosive conclusion that foreshadows current events. Action, intrigue and suspense abound."
