Over the past few years, I'm happy to report, my novels have earned a number of awards.
In June 2010, my publisher, Outskirts Press, named my latest Clint Jagger thriller, The Persian Project, recipient of their Best Book Award, describing it as a tour de force.
In 2008, My Izzy Brand mystery, No Laughing Matter, won the Top Hand Award in genre fiction, sponsored by the Colorado Authors' League, and was named a merit award winner in the EVVY competition sponsored by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association.
A year later, my historical, Neptune's Chariot, won another Top Hand Award in the mainstream category, and was named a finalist in the Colorado Book Award competition.
These follow earlier awards:
Deadly Passage won the mystery award in the Colorado Gold competition in 1991, and The Persian Project was cited by the National Writers Association in 1990.

Appearing with three other authors at the Boulder Book Store, Irv discussed his exeriences in Iran during the late 1970s and how those experiences launched him on a late-life career as a novelist, especially as an author of international thrillers. He also signed copies of his book , The Persian Project, the prequel to his Clint Jagger series.

In a presentation to the University of Denver's Ollie study group, Irv discussed his experiences in Iran during the last days of the Shah and showed a film he wrote and produced. Irv mined those experiences for his third Clint Jagger thiller, The Persian Project, released in June 2010.

Irv will join fellow mystery writer, Mike Befeler, on a workshop, "Humor in Geezer-lit Mysteries" at the Fourth Annual Author Fest of the Rockies. Sponsored by the Manitou Springs Public Library, the conference raises funds for the preservation/restoration of the Carnegie library built in 1910. Irv will sign copies of his award-winning mystery, No Laughing Matter.

Irv will discuss his cozy mystery, No Laughing Matter, at the monthly meeting of the Shalom Park Book Club at 10:30 a.m. His novel features Izzy Brand, an elderly stand-up comic-turned-sleuth, who vows to find his friend's killer.

Irv will sign copies of his sea-going tale, Neptune's Chariot, at the annual gathering of local authors at the Englewood Public Library at 3 p.m. It will be Irv's third appearance at this popular event which attracts several dozen authors and hundreds of readers.

Irv will conduct a workshop on fiction writing at the Castle Rock Writers Conference 2008: Rock-Solid Writing at the Philip S. Miller Library, Castle Rock, CO. from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Irv will read from and sign his latest novel, Neptune's Chariot, at the Tattered Cover's LoDo store on 16th St. in Denver, CO. at 7:30 p.m. The Tattered Cover, as regional readers know, is among the most prestigious book stores in the Rocky Mountain west. It will be Irv's fourth signing there.

Irv's No Laughing Matter earned the "Harvey" Award from the Colorado Authors' League for best genre fiction published by a member in 2007. CAL is the oldest (70 years) and most prestigious professional writing organization in Colorado.

Irv's 2007 mystery, No Laughing Matter, introducing stand-up comic Izzy Brand, earned an EVVY Award, sponsored by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA).
September 8, 1991
Irv won first place in the mystery category of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Colorado Gold contest for his debut novel, Deadly Passage.
